in-side-out

This is my Master made in 2020, for this project I researched the word ‘frame’ wherefrom I read a lot about the different interpretations. H. Matisse is the one that inspired me the most with this quote: “Painting is not coloring shapes, but shaping color.” I worked around a fixed size of paper where I created small cuts and adaptions in, letting it hang and let atmosphere controle the shape that was also changeable in the different attachment points. Along the process, the process became as important as the end result. Because there again it was working with the fixed size of the scanner where I only was able to shows close-ups of my process. By only showing the parts that was fitting in that frame of the scanner. In this concept I’ve been out-sizing my work; that’s how I played with the word ‘frame’.
